The red carpet was rolled out last week for the seventh Merton Best Business Awards and it was yet again another outstanding night celebrating the top businesses and entrepreneurs in the borough. Held at the prestigious All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon, the Merton Best Business Awards saw leading figures from the community dress up in their finest and enjoy a night of entertainment, fizz and fine dining before a glittering awards ceremony presented by Sky broadcaster Laura Woods.
And the winners are . . .
The Merton Best Business Awards celebrates the top local businesses and entrepreneurs, and seeks to reward those who are proving that despite economical hurdles in the current political climate that local is where it is at and that business is still thriving for many.
From those who give exceptional customer service, to the bosses who look after their employees, as well as outstanding women and small companies who are making a difference in the community, there were 16 categories which saw an astounding 150 entries this year.
Huge congratulations to all the finalists who are all flying the flag for Merton businesses and to the winners - who were judged to be the very best in their categories. This year saw 2018’s overall winner RyGas still pick up two gongs for Best Customer Service and Entrepreneur of the Year. Meanwhile, Esente Hair also won two for Best Employer of the Year and The Extra Mile Award.
It was Gina Conway and her team from Gina Conway Salon & Spa, now based in their new home in Elys Urban Beauty, however, who won big on the night - winning a whopping three awards including Best Overall Business.
Gina said of accepting her awards:“I never expected to win overall winner! Although I have to say I think my business rocks! What we do is really serve the community and serve our team. Everything we do it though love - we call it beauty through love. And we really deserve it! I feel really proud of my team for making this happen because I can’t do without them and so grateful for having the opportunity to be here at the Merton Best Business Awards. We try to make a big difference in the world and make the world a better place. And we do it everyday with our guests. Thank you so much to my team, to our clients and to Merton.”
This was also the first time that Merton Chamber of Commerce has organised the whole event in-house, and local businesses have been integral to make the event a celebration to remember.
Diana Sterck, CEO of The Merton Chamber of Commerce said:“The gala awards evening was so exciting and the overall winner was the cream of a fantastic number of high quality applications from across the borough. The winner shone through as a business that places the customer at its core. They say about themselves: ‘We care about people and we show it. We work hard to make people look and feel great.’ Huge congratulations to Gina Conway and her team as well as all the other winners and runners up. Thank you to everyone who applied this year, we are privileged to have such a range of excellent businesses in the borough.”
